Selecting the right filter system
To determine which filter system is suitable for your vacuum cleaner, the airflow of your vacuum cleaner is crucial. On the product page of your vacuum cleaner, this is generally indicated by one of the following measurements:
– Airflow in the number of liters of air per second.
– Airflow in the number of liters of air per minute.
– Airflow in the number of cubic meters (m³) of air per hour.
The airflow value of your vacuum cleaner should fall between the minimum airflow and the maximum airflow capacity of a filter. Below is an overview of the minimum airflow requirement for each filter and the maximum airflow it can handle:

Example
The Bosch AdvancedVac 20 vacuum cleaner can process 70 liters of air per second. This airflow falls within the range of the following filters:
- Cyclone filter model M-3;
- Cyclone filter model M-4;
- Cyclone filter model M-5;
- Cyclone filter model M metal.
If materials with abrasive properties, such as stone, glass, and metal debris, are being sucked up, then the metal cyclone filter model M is the best choice.
Cyclone filters model M-3, M-4, M-5, and the metal cyclone filter model M are suitable for 99% of all (construction) vacuum cleaner. Only very powerful, multi-motor construction vacuum cleaners and central extraction systems require a larger filter, such as cyclone filter model L, model XL, model L metal, and model XXL metal.
If you’re unsure about the airflow capacity of your vacuum, you can also consider the inner diameter of the vacuum hose. If the inner diameter falls between 27mm and 40mm, then cyclone filter model 3 and cyclone filter model M metal are generally compatible.
